Anne at ePS-1

Anne participated in the First European Congress on Photosynthesis Research (ePS-1) and the ePS-Young in Uppsala, Sweden. She presented her research with a poster and a presentation. Many participants were interested in her research, which led to interesting discussions. In addition, these meetings were a good opportunity for reconnecting with old colleagues and starting new collaborations.

Visit to University of Plymouth

Anne stayed with the group of Professor Matthias Futschik at the University of Plymouth in the UK during the last three weeks in order to learn RNAseq analysis with bioinformatic tools such as R. We hope to get better insight into iron acquisition of Synechocystis sp. PCC6803 with the research methods Anne learned. Read more about Matthias’ research here.

Erland and Anne at SYNBIOSYS summer school

Erland and Anne attended the PhD summer school SYNthetic BIOlogy: From pro- to eukaryotic SYStems (SYNBIOSYS) at the Copenhagen Plant Science Center in Denmark. During this summer school, they discussed the idea of synthetic biology as a new approach to genetic research: using standardization, modularity and abstraction to create new biological systems. In order to combine the theoretical background with…

Visit to SB 7.0 in Singapore

Martin and Anne participated in the seventh internation meeting on synthetic biology (SB 7.0) in Singapore. Anne presented her poster ‘Streamlining recombination-mediated genetic engineering in Synechococcus sp. PCC 7002 by validating three neutral integration sites’ which is accessible via this link. A program of the meeting can be found here.

New paper published

Anne, Rahmi and Martin published a paper with the titel ‘Streamlining recombination-mediated genetic engineering by validating three neutral integration sites in Synechococcus sp. PCC 7002′. The paper is published in the Journal of Biological Engineering and it presents the results of their work on neutral integration sites in the cyanobacterium Synechococcus sp. PCC 7002. The open-access paper can be found…
