Visit to University of Plymouth
Anne stayed with the group of Professor Matthias Futschik at the University of Plymouth in the UK during the last three weeks in order to learn RNAseq analysis with bioinformatic tools such as R. We hope to get better insight into iron acquisition of Synechocystis sp. PCC6803 with the research methods Anne learned. Read more about Matthias’ research here.

Visit to SB 7.0 in Singapore
Martin and Anne participated in the seventh internation meeting on synthetic biology (SB 7.0) in Singapore. Anne, Rahmi and Martin published a paper with the titel ‘Streamlining recombination-mediated genetic engineering by validating three neutral integration sites in Synechococcus sp. PCC 7002′. Lab trip to Røros
This year, we decided to visit the beautiful city of Røros. We started with some sightseeing in the city centre, had a Norwegian lunch and then we visited the copper mine Olavsgruva to learn more about the mining history of Røros. We concluded the lab trip with a nice dinner at Skanckebua where we discussed future lab trips.
PhD Grand Prix
Anne participated in the PhD Grand Prix of the Faculty of Natural Science and she was awarded the second prize for her presentation on nanowire-mediated iron uptake.
